
Benjamin and Helen Trask are a well-known couple in 1920’s New York. Their enormous wealth has grown through the 1920’s and through the Wall Street Crash of 1929. The author has given different versions of their story, creating a mystery for the reader – which version is true?

Just like Guardian, I was “propelled forward by the twists and turns of the novel’s form, the conviction that Diaz has another trick up his sleeve.”, and the Booker Prize judges call it a “provocative and propulsive novel”.
